Caja MD to advise Government

1 December 2016

Caroline Brown, Managing Director of IC1-based Caja, has been appointed as a member of the Government’s Small Business Panel.

The Panel, which was established in 2011, advises the Government on how to help more small and medium-sized enterprises win public sector contracts.

The group, which consists of 24 leaders from micro, small and medium-sized businesses from across industry sectors, works collaboratively with the Small Business Policy Team and the Small Business Crown Representative to help the Government get the best value from smaller businesses.

The aim to ensure that, by 2020, £1 of every £3 invested by Whitehall in goods and services goes to SMEs.  If met, the target would mean almost £3billion of new business being available each year, either directly or through the supply chain.

Caroline grew up in Staffordshire and has a keen affinity for the area.  She started her professional career working for a finance institution, before moving on to consulting roles in KPMG, Accenture and TATA.  Caroline recently decided to start her own consulting company – Caja - working with public and private sector organisations.  Caja recently won the coveted New Business of the Year Award at the North West Federation of Small Business Awards.

Following her appointment, Caroline has said:  “I’m going to use my experience as a government supplier to make it simpler and quicker for SMEs to bid government contracts.”
