Internet Central - tenant case study

An interview with managing director Maitland Hyslop
Founded in 1995, Internet Central was one of the UK’s first internet service providers (ISP) and it continues to offer these services from Keele University Science and Business Park.
When did your company move to Keele University Science and Business Park?
We moved to KUSBP about ten years ago, from our original home in nearby Nantwich. Since moving, Internet Central has continued to grow and we have gradually taken more space on the park.
What attracted you here?
The great thing about being based here is that it reflects the image we want for our business which is all about innovation and technology. We are surrounded by lots of similar companies, which boosts our credibility and helps us to grow our business.
The park is really well connected and is easy for employees and customers to get to; the buildings and the local environment are also really well suited to our needs.
How would you describe the buildings, facilities and location?
Not only is it a first-class business park, but the buildings are high quality and value for money, particularly compared with some city centres where the buildings are older and not as environmentally friendly. The park is also green and pleasant to work in and doesn’t feel at all industrial.
From a business perspective we also have good neighbours too. There is a real mix of talent on the park and we often work together. Without doubt, it is an outstanding place to work.
How does your business benefit from being here?
Of our top three customers, two of them are companies that are based on the business park. The third is a company which chose us because of the medical facilities which are also on the business park.
Which business support services have you used?
The gym is good as are the meeting rooms. We have used Keele Hall for a ball and use the Terrace restaurant for business lunches. We have also used the lecture halls for presentations.
The Embark Group (Keele Facilities Management Limited) are also really helpful and very good at what they do; that includes everyone from directors to receptionists.
Do you have plans to grow and take more space?
Yes, in fact we recently took on more space and are already trying to take on more.
